What fuels our Digital Marketing Executive, Alice?
Alice, the Northern, flame-headed, bubbly, digital marketing and content expert joined the agency at the beginning of this decade. She thrives off all things content and SEO and has ignited vibrant energy, enthusiasm and creativity in client projects. Read on to discover more about her…
What energises you the most in life?
At work, I prefer to be proactive and get stuck into tasks. But I also find energy and motivation from diversity in my days and being in a lively environment (I can talk quite a lot). If I have a list of things that need doing at home, blasting music always inspires me and spurs me on. Or if my batteries need recharging, my favourite thing to do is round-up my friends, grab my camera and spend the day outside.
What’s your key to long-lasting collaborations and client relationships?
Is communication the most obvious and cliche answer? Probably, but I’m sticking with it because it’s true and the most important – professional AND personal. I like to think I’m friendly to everybody and in my working life, I’ve learned a lot more about understanding and patience.
Not everybody you come across will have your level of knowledge on certain subjects or topics, just like you won’t have theirs. So if you need to repeat things or walk through processes slowly so that everybody understands, then so be it!
When do you feel in your element?
I’m happiest when there are an energetic buzz and friendly vibe to the room. One of my favourite things about SeventhElement so far is how welcoming everybody is and the fact that every single person here has positive energy – no negativity from team SeventhElement 🙂
My role is content-heavy, which is great as it’s what I love the most at work and where I feel I thrive. But I also love having the opportunity to grow my skill set and learn new things. I’m currently being shown the ropes on social media at a business level, which I’m really enjoying and hopefully, this will be another area where I soon flourish.
What’s your go-to productivity hack?
LISTS!! I feel like this should be under my ‘nerdy’ question, but I LOVE making a list. I know we’re in the digital age, but clear and systematic handwritten lists are so satisfying – see, nerd.
Having everything laid out in front of me and prioritised keeps me so much more organised. I can be quite forgetful, so lists make sure I don’t forget anything, hitting deadlines are much easier and I’m more productive and motivated if I can see everything in one place.
Shoutout Paperchase for some excellent to-do list notepads 😉
I do have way too many digital lists on my phone notes though (23, I just counted) – if it’s something I need access to while I’m out and about; shopping lists, to-do lists, food & bar recommendations etc.
What does your digital detox look like?
Festivals! There are many things/people/places where I’m happy to go on a digital detox and really enjoy not using socials, but I will have the occasional fleeting thought of wanting to check or wondering if I’m missing anything (literally NEVER missing anything).
But festivals are probably the one place where social media doesn’t even cross my mind. Not for a second. My phone goes in my bag when I arrive and isn’t switched on until I’m leaving. Maybe to call a friend if I wander off and lose everybody. Standard. Or for the odd photo but I prefer disposables at festivals.
Nitrogen is used as a coolant: how do you keep cool under pressure?
Phone off, deep breathe and find the positives of the situation! (…and usually make a list)
What’s the nerdiest thing you do outside of work?
I don’t think I necessarily DO anything that nerdy, but I am obsessed with sharks.
Name a shark documentary and I’m almost certain I’ve watched it. Oh, and I do occasionally fall down the YouTube vortex and before I know it I’ve spent four hours of my evening watching shark videos. I also follow about 40 shark/shark photographer/shark and ocean conservationist Instagram accounts actually. Okay, this is quite nerdy.
