What energises you the most in life?
At work, getting introduced to new things is one of the most exciting parts of my job. We work with a lot of different clients which means getting to grips with new people, ideas, and clients, and a chance to learn about new things.
Outside work is the same, I like the chance to learn something new. I’m currently learning Chinese and I enjoy finding out about different times in history through podcasts and videos.
What’s your key to long-lasting collaborations and client relationships?
I think the personal touch is key in building strong client relationships. Getting to know people beyond the immediate work really helps, even little things like small talk at the start of the meeting, asking how their holiday or weekend went, help build that personal connection. All projects have ups and downs, and a good personal relationship with the people you’re working really helps get through those challenging periods.
When do you feel in your element?
I find I really enjoy getting stuck into creative work. Taking a first idea and developing, either alone or with the rest of the team, is really satisfying. It’s great to see how problems are solved and concepts evolve over time, and seeing that feed into the final output.
What’s your go-to productivity hack?
I’ve found taking lots of notes has been great for increasing my productivity. It helps keep everything organised and lets me know what I need to do, by when, and who I should be talking to.
What does your digital detox look like?
I almost always have my phone on silent and have turned notifications off for most of the apps to make sure it’s never too intrusive. I try to take a walk outside everyday to get away from my screens and get some fresh air.
Nitrogen is used as a coolant: how do you keep cool under pressure?
Making a list is my go to response for when I start feeling pressured or stressed. Breaking tasks down and taking things on one at a time allows me to take back control and get a handle on things.
What’s the nerdiest thing you do outside of work?
I’m a big fan of playing video games. I like most types, but my favourite are the more story driven ones. The Soulsborne games are one of my favourites and I’m currently playing through Elden Ring for the second time.
