Forging Bonds: SeventhElement Team Work Anniversaries

Collaboration, curiosity, diligence – what does it take to forge a strong team?

And, perhaps more importantly, what does it take to hold onto it?

Last month, we celebrated some team milestones and work anniversaries. Hear what Emily, Kathryn and Alice have learnt during their time at SeventhElement…

Emily, Content Manager – 3 year work anniversary

Having officially joined the team back in January 2018, Emily has gone from Digital Marketing Executive to Content Manager in 3 years.

Find out what’s fuelled Emily’s success

Content Manager, Emily

What have you learnt during your time at 7E?

Before starting with SeventhElement, I had very little experience working in digital marketing. Coming from a teaching background, my first year in the team was a true learning curve. Thanks to the dedication of my colleagues, training and a whole lot of hands-on experience, I’m now well versed in the fundamentals of digital marketing, content creation and strategy.

I’m now able to develop multi-channel content roadmaps and strategies for clients – a long way from when I started as an intern!

Aside from technical skills and know-how, I’ve also honed my project management, communication and teamwork skills along the way.

What advice would you give to other copywriters and content marketers looking to progress in their careers?

It’s all about putting in the time, effort and learning. Listen to feedback and show your employer how you’ve taken it on and improved.

You can read more about how I progressed from a digital marketing intern in this blog.

What has fuelled you to succeed?

During my time at SeventhElement, I’ve been really encouraged to grow and take charge of my own development.

I also love the satisfaction of completing a creative project and getting feedback from happy clients.

What’s your favourite thing about working at 7E?

The team! I work with some great people and there is a lively, supportive atmosphere when we’re all in the office.

I’ve also appreciated having the opportunity to try my hand at different parts of the business to work out what I really enjoy and want to do more of.

Kathryn, Brand Content Lead – 2 year work anniversary

Our Brand Content Lead, Kathryn, started with us in January 2020. Since then, she’s been busy coordinating projects and powering up our very own brand.

What have you learnt during your time at 7E?

Similarly to Emily, I had a complete career change before starting at SeventhElement. My background was in sales and account management, and I had limited knowledge in the world of digital marketing.

Over the last 2 years, thanks to lots of training from my well-versed colleagues and the help of HubSpot training courses, I have got to grips with the fundamentals of digital marketing, improved my copywriting and content strategy abilities and further developed my project management skills.

What advice would you give to other digital marketers looking to progress in their careers?

Practice, patience and a willingness to learn are the key elements of success. To accelerate your digital marketing career, you need to put your training and knowledge to the test and practice, practice, practice!

Knowing how to collect, analyse and draw insights and recommendations from data is also crucial for all aspects of digital marketing – and allows you to demonstrate your refined analytical skills to your employer.

What has fuelled you to succeed?

The ultimate job satisfaction for me is receiving great feedback from managers and clients, along with improved SEO rankings.

What’s your favourite thing about working at 7E?

Definitely the people! 😀 Having such a supportive and friendly team has kept spirits high throughout the multiple lockdowns, and there’s a great atmosphere now we’re back in the office part-time.

Alice, Digital Marketing and SEO – 2 year work anniversary

Alice also joined the team in January 2020 and has since ignited her vibrant energy, enthusiasm and creativity in client SEO projects.

Digital Exec, Alice

What have you learnt during your time at 7E?

My previous role was in content marketing, but more so at a copywriter level. Since joining SeventhElement, my content planning and strategy abilities have definitely improved, and I’m now able to think more strategically about creating a content strategy or a roadmap etc.

What advice would you give to others looking to progress in their SEO careers?

You must be willing to keep up-to-date with the latest SEO “news”. Google is constantly changing its ranking factors, best practices or algorithms, so if you’re not hot on what’s new in the world of SEO, you could be wasting a lot of your time on tasks that won’t achieve results. Also, be patient; SEO isn’t something where you will find overnight results!

What has fuelled you to succeed?

Receiving great feedback from a client when a project is going well, really spurs me on. Or when you complete a monthly report and get to see all your successes for a campaign over the last couple of weeks, you really feel encouraged to keep pushing and earning those achievements.

What’s your favourite thing about working at 7E?

I love the company culture at 7E. We’re given the freedom to try new things, encouraged to keep developing our careers, and we all love a pint or four at the end of every meeting or brainstorming session!

Plus it’s a very friendly bunch, that’s always a bonus 🙂
